For every business to grow and survive in the marketplace you need customers and clients. These are the people that buy your products and patronize your services. Hence, you'll like to serve them better and engage them to come back for more. There are so many businesses and companies who are yet to understand the importance of engaging with their clients. Remember, the goal is to engage them by solving their problems and not to appear Salesy. If you're constantly engaging with your clients, there's possibility they will always come back to patronize you.

So, how do you get to engage with your clients and customers?

1. Create emotional Products:

Emotions can really go a long way when it comes to sales and handling your customers and clients. Emotional products can be a way of creating products that makes your customers or clients have this "Sense of belonging". This makes them feel like they are part of your company or you're considering them when creating your product. For example, sometimes in late 2018 and early 2019, the Coca-Cola Company created a series called "Share your feeling". They did this by changing the plastic bottle label and then saying “Share a Coke with Ade", "Share a coke with Musa", "Share a Coke with "Ify". They were literally attaching names of different people on their label. This really pushed some people to go looking for their names on the Coke bottle to buy (I also did go looking for mine). So you see, they actually wanted to engage with their customers and that really brought them a huge sale. Creating products with feelings and emotions makes your customer always come back to you for more.

2. Create a community for your customers:

Building an online community is a way for you to interact with your customers and also members of your community directly. This will also show your customers and members that you are a real human being and there is a Face behind the community. Your community will also allow your customers and members to interact with and help each other in the group. The online community could be Facebook page or group WhatsApp group linkedIn group or other websites forums that helps to build communities online.

3. Reward your customers/ clients:

You can hold a contest for your community members and reward those that reached your finishing line of the action you want them to take. This could be hosting a live show on your Facebook page or group and promise that anyone who stays to the end of the Live show will stand a better chance of getting one of your premium courses or Ebook for free, or you can give them one of your beauty products if you are in the beauty industry or promote their page for free if you are a Brand influencer. This will make them stay engaged and even share your page with their friends to also participate in your contest.

4. Provide offer:

Offer can be providing some discounts off a product. This could be done on special days in your business. Let's say, you are celebrating 3 years in your business or celebrating special days in your Nation like the Independence Day, International women's day and International men's day. You can offer like 10% discount of any products and don't forget to set a countdown timer for them to know when your offer will expire.

5. Ask questions to your customers/clients:

When you ask questions to your clients and customers, you are not only trying to know their pain points but you're also increasing the engagement in your community. For example, few days ago, I asked my Facebook page community what time and day will they like me to be hosting my life so that all of them will participate and join me, and Yes! they provided me with the answer I needed and also increased my page engagement, and of course I host my live show called " LIVE SHOW WITH IFUU " every Saturday, where I answer most of the questions about social media marketing and business growth. You can also like my Facebook page here to join the conversation.

6. Host/ share an event:

You can host local events within your community to engage with those living in your locality or you could share an event that you attended with your audience. You can go live using Facebook live or Instagram live to share with them what is really happening at the event and what they are missing out.

7. Create enticing unique products:

When you create products that are different from what others are offering out there your own becomes UNIQUE. Your uniqueness can be adding a better feature to the normal things that other businesses has been producing which is capable of making the lives of your customers or clients better. For example, let's look at Microphone, the first microphone produced was a wired microphone this limits Speakers to some certain distance on the stage. Someone thought of making things easier for speakers and then produced a wireless microphone this was serving well because speakers can now use the stage at any distance they want, but their hands aren't free yet. The thought of making Speaker hands-free was how head-on microphone and shirt microphones were produced. Now the speakers can move their hands as they want and also walk at any distance on the stage.

Let's look also at the Nigerian popular Food called Jollof Rice. You can spice up the live in your own Jollof rice by adding some Green peas and carrots to be different from what other food vendors are offering. This simple uniqueness can entice your customers and clients, make them engage with your page and also refer their friends to your business.
